FIGARO 3

The Figaro BENETEAU 3 is the first ever single-design production monohull. A distillation of technology and innovation, it results from a collaboration between the top experts at the BENETEAU group and the Van Peteghem Lauriot-Prévost (VPLP) office, the architects behind the last two boats to win the Vendée Globe. The prototype has been tested, and production of the boat has commenced. It will be classified under ISO/World Sailing Design Category A.

The specifications define the FB3 as a one-design as reliable as its predecessor, the FB2. It features foils, a more efficient and ballast-free hull, a thinner and deeper keel, a set-back mast, and a more ample and larger sail plan.

Similar to the Imoca 60, the mast is set back to ensure balance under sail, allowing for the use of more efficient sails, and includes a bowsprit. Single-handed sailors will navigate with a square-top mainsail, a genoa, and a jib, as well as a top spinnaker (of 105m² to gain speed in light winds) and a small gennaker.
